After saying goodbye to his high-maintenance campervan, Guy found himself with just the right budget and the perfect timing to build a SheShed Woodland cabin.
The moment he saw the treated timber cabin, he knew it would be the ideal addition to his 1950s weatherboard home, with its classic gable roof, generous ceiling height, and timeless shape that blended seamlessly into his backyard.

In addition to the generous 15m2 of floor space, one of the best things about the Woodland cabin is that the window and door placement is fully customisable, allowing you to choose the placement to best suit your needs. With this in mind, Guy customised the layout of his Woodland cabin by positioning the door on the long side and the casement window on the short side.
Thanks to the flatpack design with precisely pre-cut timber, a trusty drop saw, and careful reading of the manual, the build went smoothly. With a friend’s help and a slab foundation with underfloor insulation, the cabin now feels solid, warm, and grounded.
At 15m2 the Woodland cabin stands out as the perfect size for most backyards.
Inside, the space reflects Guy’s love of rustic charm, one green feature wall, country-style pendant lighting, an antique school workbench, and a big old leather chair set the tone. He kept the ceiling and floor raw, added a sofa bed, a vintage hat rack, and even A/C and power points for year-round comfort. He ‘made a very easy entrance pathway from the main house and driveway’ adding practical access and character to the build.
