A Creative Haven at Home: Kathryn’s Star Deluxe Studio Retreat
When Kathryn imagined her ideal creative space, she pictured more than just a place to paint. She wanted a welcoming retreat, somewhere she could create, teach, relax, and occasionally enjoy a quiet afternoon nap on the daybed. The answer came in the form of a SheShed Star Deluxe cabin, a design that blends charm, flexibility, and comfort in one beautiful backyard space.
“I use my shed as an art studio, a hang-out space, a bit of sewing, and a little afternoon nap on the daybed,” Kathryn shared. “I’ve even had a few ladies come over for classes, and it’s been so good. They absolutely loved the space.”
A Cabin That Feels Bigger Than It Looks
“I love the size and how cosy and welcoming it feels,” she said. “We took the ceiling up a bit higher in the middle, and it looks so big and open.”
One of the first things Kathryn fell in love with was the feel of the cabin itself. While the Star Deluxe has a cosy footprint, clever design choices made the space feel surprisingly large and open.
Adding a veranda to the front completed the look, creating a gentle transition between the garden and the studio. “The veranda just finishes it off,” Kathryn explained. “It really makes the whole space feel special.”
Built With Support Every Step of the Way
Like many backyard builds, Kathryn’s project came with a few practical challenges. Her block was sloped, which meant extra work was needed for the foundations. But she never felt like she was navigating it alone.
“The team were great, so patient when I kept ringing up with builder questions,” she laughed. “They were incredibly helpful with our challenges.”
Kathryn enjoyed being part of the process, working alongside her builder and feeling supported whenever questions popped up along the way.
A Space That’s Just Right
Now complete, the Star Deluxe has become a much-loved extension of Kathryn’s home. From art classes filled with conversation and creativity, to quiet moments spent sewing or resting, the cabin adapts effortlessly to whatever the day brings.
“I wouldn’t change a thing,” Kathryn said. “There’s plenty of room, and I love the French doors.”
Those doors open the space to fresh air and natural light, reinforcing the calm, inviting atmosphere that visitors notice as soon as they step inside.
